These are pictures where real animals have a “reflection” of a mythical animal or a fantasy version of themselves in water, on stones, in a mirror, in their shadows, etc.

These two jackrabbits are standing on a petroglyph of two jackalopes! Both the jackrabbits are in the same positions as the two drawings…and they’re both glowing. I wonder what’s going on with them?
On the left we have a brown hummingbird hanging out in the daytime. On the right we have a firebird version of the hummingbird exploring the skies at night. I like the way the color contrast turned out in this picture.
In reality: a dog with a milk bone. In fantasy: an armored dog with a large star wand. This picture was a lot of fun to create 🙂
This zebra’s shadow has a winged unicorn in it! Wow! I wonder what other secrets this zebra has?
Check out that fairy dog in this dog’s reflection! Wouldn’t it be cool to be able to look in a puddle and see a fairy version of yourself? This fairy dog’s design was inspired by a luna moth.
This little frog is picturing herself as a lancer. The stick and piece of wood surely aren’t as effective as a real spear and shield (plus armor) but it’s fun to dream!
There’s a magical star somewhere in the universe which casts shadows of mythical animals in place of real animals. In this case, the elephant’s shadow is that of an eastern dragon.
These cute little leopard cubs are walking along with Questing Beasts in their reflections!
This little bat is hanging on a branch and thinking “I wonder what it would be like to be a wyvern?”
Is this a phoenix who is trying to disguise itself as a small white bird whose true identity is revealed in the magical water? Or does this bird just have a wild imagination? I’ll let you decide.
When this little doggy sees her reflection, she likes to imagine herself as a griffin exploring a different world 🙂
